The Open Marketplace is a user-friendly trading platform designed for B2B, B2C, and C2C retail and commercial transactions, similar to FB Marketplace and eBay, but with a wider range of payment methods, lower transaction fees and higher levels of security that encourage safe trading with a focus on Africa and other developing countries.

A wide range of payment transaction methods are accepted including standard card payments, cash, crypto, commodities trading, barter systems, and sweat equity.

Additionally, it offers multiple cryptocurrencies (including Africa’s stablecoin AKL) through a secure wallet integration and local payment providers can be integrated easily.

Sellers can choose between auction-style and fixed-price listings, and benefit from personalized storefronts and advanced marketing tools. It supports global and local transactions, integrates with social media for added trust, and allows direct communication between buyers and sellers. The marketplace is cost-effective with no listing fees for C2C transactions and non-profits, and ultra-low fees for B2C, C2C etc.

Status

Our team has developed a detailed set of requirements and design documentation, which form the basis for a software development contract to be put out for tender. Our support team will oversee the implementation and maintenance of the platform, which will operate on cloud-based technology. We will also manage service levels, providing our clients with a fully outsourced solution.

Availability

The platform will first be available to countries with diplomatic ties to the Malta-based Diplomatic Network.
