Well over 30% of the population suffer from a long term chronic illness.
In many cases, people face financial hardship as the illness prevents them from working. With their savings depleted, only the lucky few are able to pay for therapies.
Complementary integrative medicine is often the only option available when allopathic medicine lacks an effective pharmacological or surgery based cure.
Atlantis Foundation is helping people with chronic illness (Globally and specifically in Malta) access treatments, both from our partner Atlantis Clinic and/or approved medical partners.
Atlantis Foundation is currently being set up as a non-profit charitable foundation in Malta. Trustees are being appointed and we expect to complete registration formalities with the Maltese business registry MBR by June 2022. The Atlantis Clinic team are providing financial support to the foundation and project managing its launch.
The Foundation Team
A small fundraising team will be established with part-time staff and volunteers. We will be fundraising from three discreet sectors including Corporate, Personal & High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs). We will work with existing foundations such as the ALS/MS foundation and hospices in Malta.
The foundation team have considerable experience working within the non-profit sector for household names such as Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital charity in London.
How will your donations be used?
Donations and gifts received will be used in the following areas, donors can specify which area they wish their gifts to be allocated to:
- Patients – To allow patients without financial means to receive treatment
- Research – Research projects with academics and scientists
- Equipment – To help Atlantis Clinic purchase specialist equipment
- All of the above
The foundation will help patients with chronic medical conditions including MS, ALS, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Diabetes & Cancer.
Here are two examples of the equipment the Foundation aims to purchase :
1. GEC Ultrasound System – Purchase Price: 6,000 Euros
GEC is a world leader in Ultrasound technology and we are looking for donors to help us acquire this modern equipment that can be used to help detect and monitor the progress of many conditions.
2. Oncotherm PEMF System – Adjunctive Cancer Therapy – Purchase Price: 450,000 Euros
The Oncotherm system will allow us to offer complimentary cancer treatment as adjunctive therapy to patients undergoing conventional oncology therapies. Oncotherm is a world leader in the application of heat and Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequencies (PEMF) to successfully kill cancer cells and is widely used throughout Europe.
Oncothermia’s effect is synergic to radiotherapy and to numerous chemotherapies. Furthermore, it leads to increased immunogenicity and effectively reduces the pain of the patient.
3. Ananda PEMF System – €2000
Ananda is a leader in PEMF technologies and the Foundation will purchase several of these systems for the Clinic and for home use.
Atlantis Foundation will be funding research into chronic illnesses in order to establish the best combination of complementary therapies for specific conditions. We will be working with researchers, academics and scientists to publish evidence-based results as white papers.
We are currently looking for trustees in Malta to provide oversight of the foundation’s work and to approve any future changes to its core mission. Please contact us if you can help or if you know someone who may like to become a Trustee.
To provide effective management of donations, we are using the Salesforce Non-profit system to support fundraising campaigns and to provide a full audit trail of every donation. It will also track recipients of clinical care and allow assets purchased with donors’ gifts to be managed. The Trustees will be asked to electronically approve expenditure on large items of spend and to sign off on the foundation’s annual returns. We will also apply rigorous anti-money laundering (AML) controls to ensure funds received can be traced to their origin, eliminating any reputational or financial risk to the Foundation.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help the foundation with all aspects of fundraising lead generation, and sourcing patients in need, so please get in contact if you think you can help.
